Nauticus Guest Experience and Engagement Intern (Seasonal):
Position Description: Interns will support the Visitor Services department in delivering outstanding guest experiences across the Nauticus campus, including the Battleship Wisconsin, Nauticus galleries, and Admissions area. This internship focuses on developing professional communication, public engagement, and frontline operations skills in a high-traffic cultural institution.
Roles Responsibilities:
Interns will serve as Guest Ambassadors, helping to greet and orient guests, assist with crowd flow, answer questions about exhibits, and provide wayfinding support throughout the facility. Interns may also assist in supporting tours, special events, group arrivals, or high-volume cruise ship days. With coaching and observation, interns will gain confidence in public interaction, customer service, and operational support techniques.
Responsibilities include:
- Proactively greeting guests and ensuring a welcoming, professional first impression
- Assisting with line management, guest check-in flow, and wayfinding
- Supporting staff with group visits and special events
- Gaining familiarity with Nauticus content, policies, and daily operations to effectively assist guests
- Shadowing front-line roles including Admissions, Guest Services, and Battleship Tour operations
- Supporting and participating in team huddles and daily briefings
- May support with admin tasks
- Reports to Admissions/Guest Relations Manager and Manager of Visitor Services
Qualifications: Must be friendly, outgoing, proactive, and comfortable speaking with a wide variety of guests. Ability to stand for prolonged periods, walk throughout the campus, and navigate outdoor environments including varying weather conditions is required.
Dates/Times: Weekdays and weekends as needed; up to 40 hours/week, 150 hours total. Schedules may be flexible depending on institutional needs and intern availability.
Nauticus internships are unpaid with no expectation of compensation.
